Teaches at Hoda
Dr. Hoda Niknezhadferdos
I am a university instructor and researcher in English Language and Literature, with long-standing interdisciplinary interests in literature, philosophy, psychology, and aesthetics, and in the ways these fields shape understandings of language, identity, embodiment, and human experience. I have been teaching English for over twenty years and currently teach at Marmara University (Istanbul) in the Atatürk Faculty of Education, where I work with undergraduate and graduate students on English literature, art and aesthetics, critical thinking, and academic writing.
I hold a PhD in English Language and Literature, completed with a dissertation on the novels of Jeanette Winterson, read through the philosophical framework of Catherine Malabou, with particular emphasis on plasticity, form, temporality, and processes of subjectivation; my earlier MA research focused on Roland Barthes’s theories of narrative, pleasure, and subjectivity, which continue to inform my critical approach. My research has resulted in the publication of multiple peer-reviewed articles in internationally recognized journals, including the Journal of Middle East Women’s Studies published by Duke University Press, CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture, ANAFORA, and Critical Language and Literary Studies, with work addressing feminist theory, phenomenology of embodiment, narrative form, and resistance in modern and contemporary literature, particularly in the writings of Jeanette Winterson, Angela Carter, and Middle Eastern women writers.
Several additional articles based on my doctoral research have appeared or are forthcoming, reflecting sustained scholarly engagement with poststructuralist theory, aesthetics, and the ethics of reading. In addition to journal publications, I have translated Fazel Hamid-Behnam’s A Drop, a Sea** into English and have participated in international and interdisciplinary academic events as a speaker, presenter, poster contributor, and interpreter. I currently serve as a Bibliography Committee member of the International Association for the Study of Irish Literatures (IASIL) and act as its representative for Türkiye, contributing to the documentation and visibility of Irish literary studies within the Turkish academic context. Across my teaching and research, I am especially committed to interdisciplinary, feminist, and theoretically informed approaches to literature, and I value scholarship as a dialogic, evolving practice grounded in sustained inquiry, critical openness, and collaborative intellectual exchange.
